What Is The Length Of Time Most People Need Long Term Care?
" . . . Average Length of Long Term Care"

No one knows for sure how long a person will need Long Term Care. This is an individual occurrence based on personal health and family history. However, statistics can give us an idea of what the averages are.
Statistics can give us some general information of the average need of the majority of people. However, averages are just that, averages! There are people on the low side of averages and some on the high side of averages. Only time will tell where you will fall---and then it will be to late!

Studies show the average length of time that a person stays in a nursing home, it does not reveal information on home care and care in assisted care facilities.

Due to the fact that most people would prefer to have care either at home or in an assisted living facility, you must consider the length of care in these facilities along with the statistics of staying in the nursing home.

"One out of four caregivers in a 1998 national home care survey reported providing care longer than five years."
